For Intisar Mayel, Environmental Health and Safety Advisor on the PAR 11 Data Centre project in Paris Digital Park,<\/a> safety is a shared responsibility lived every day. Her work focuses on planning, prevention and communication to ensure Mercury\u2019s best-in-class standards are upheld across every task and team.<\/p>\n

Originally from Tunisia, Intisar holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering and has worked in EHS roles across Tunisia, France and Spain. She joined Mercury in 2024, drawn by what she describes as \u201ca company setting the standard for safety in our industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSafety is present in every action and every decision made at Mercury\u201d<\/h2>\n

„My job starts with prevention,\u201d she said. \u201cI look at potential risks early, plan carefully, and make sure everyone is clear on what\u2019s expected.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each morning, Intisar joins supervisors and teams for the Golden Hour, a dedicated time before work begins when plans are reviewed, controls are checked, and objectives are aligned. \u201cWe come early to make sure that everything we have, such as documents, procedures and permits, is in place and followed,\u201d she said. \u201cSafety has to be visible on site, not just written down\u201d.<\/p>\n

That structure reinforces Mercury\u2019s proactive approach to safety and its commitment to prevention at every stage of delivery.<\/p>\n

Having worked across multiple sectors and countries, Intisar understands how leadership shapes culture.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have seen that the strongest results come when safety is lived as a value, not an obligation. At Mercury, leadership and teams work together so that safety is part of every action.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She believes this consistency defines Mercury\u2019s culture. \u201cSafety is present in every action and every decision made at Mercury,\u201d she said. \u201cIt is visible in how teams plan, communicate and support one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReal safety depends on creating an environment where everyone feels empowered to speak up\u201d<\/h2>\n

Communication, for Intisar, is what keeps people connected and engaged. \u201cWhen we speak with people, we can see if there is any issue, physical or mental,\u201d she said. \u201cThat is how we understand what is really happening.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rollout of Mercury\u2019s digital Safety Observation Report (SOR) programme<\/a> has strengthened this environment by giving employees and partners a straightforward way to identify and report risks before they develop into incidents. \u201cIt is a simple tool that helps us act early and improve continuously,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

For Intisar, this reflects the true meaning of Mercury\u2019s Work Safe, Home Safe value. \u201cWe plan carefully in controlled zones and pay attention to every detail, from physical health to mental wellbeing. Safety at Mercury is integrated into behaviour, into decision making and company culture\u201d.<\/p>\n
