Mercury has reached a significant milestone in the development of our state-of-the-art engineering and offsite manufacturing (OSM) facility in Sch\u00f6nebeck, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The project, which broke ground in October 2024, is now nearing completion, with construction complete in Q3 2025. Fitout works are progressing on schedule ahead of the facility\u2019s planned operational launch in Q4 2025.<\/p>\n

To mark this key stage in the build, a traditional topping-out ceremony took place onsite, featuring the customary raising of a wreath on the roof of the facility. This moment of celebration was shared with the project team and wider workforce, followed by a barbecue hosted in appreciation of their dedication and hard work.<\/p>\n

This new facility represents a major strategic investment for Mercury as part of the company\u2019s evolving Go Beyond\u00a0strategy. An initial \u20ac25 million is being invested in Phase One of the build, with the potential for the total investment to rise to \u20ac45 million in a planned second phase. Mercury is managing full site development, including civil, structural, architectural (CSA), and mechanical, electrical, and process (MEP) fitout works.<\/p>\n

Set to become a key hub for engineering and modular construction in Europe, the overall 25,000 square metre development will also host a team of over 200 professionals. These teams will deliver high-value design, BIM, engineering, and support services to Mercury\u2019s multinational clients across its core sectors of Data Centre, Semiconductor and Life Sciences<\/p>\n

At Mercury, sustainable growth and consistent high-quality delivery to our clients remain central to our Go Beyond strategy. Our capital investment in Germany\u2014establishing a new engineering and OSM fabrication headquarters for mainland Europe\u2014demonstrates our commitment to the next phase of pan-European growth, across the semiconductor, life sciences, data centre and specialist engineering services including fire protection sectors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The facility will operate as Mercury\u2019s principal offsite fabrication headquarters for mainland Europe to complement our existing facilities in Ireland. It will support the delivery of high-specification carbon, stainless, high-purity process pipework, sprinkler systems and modular assemblies, ensuring greater speed, quality, and cost-efficiency in project delivery.<\/p>\n

In addition to its engineering capability, the Sch\u00f6nebeck site will include significant office space and serve as Mercury\u2019s European headquarters, further cementing its role as a central base for operations across mainland Europe.<\/p>\n
