Mercury’s on-going support<\/h4>\n
Daniel is adamant that without Mercury’s support \u201cnone of this would have been possible\u201d- \u201cI availed of Mercury\u2019s fantastic career break programme and took three months off, to prepare for, complete and recover from the challenge.\u201d \u201cIt was amazing to have that time to focus on my own personal interests. Mercury also provided Daniel with a jeep which he used to travel the whole of Ireland, and often coupled as his sleeping quarters.\u201d \u201cThe career break has been perfect for me because I\u2019ve been able to pursue my interests while also not giving up my work which I really enjoy too- I\u2019m fortunate to have a very supportive team.\u201d<\/p>\n
What advice would Daniel have for those who feel torn between their professional ambitions and a personal passion? \u201cI think seriously asking yourself what makes you happy and then taking small steps to do more of that is a great way to start- when you take that chance you never know what it will lead to. Since completing the challenge I\u2019ve been approached to lead more and more hikes which has been very rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n
Having aimed to dedicate each of the 275 mountains to a different rescue dog, Daniel had initially hoped to raise \u20ac2750, which would equate to \u20ac10 raised for each mountain completed and dog mentioned. After gaining a significant following online, Daniel has now raised over \u20ac10,000 and completed the challenge on August 3rd. Having recently returned to work he has spent the last few weeks resting and looks forward to returning to some of the rescue centres and embracing another fundraising challenge in the near future.<\/p>\n
