Mercury\u2019s Learning and Development team recently marked Learning at Work Week 2024 with a number of events for employees centred on promoting learning and enhancing their professional development. Mercury has introduced several initiatives to encourage our people to build the career they envision for themselves. Learning and Development Manager Alan Reilly recently spoke at LinkedIn\u2019s Accelerate Conference about the work Mercury is doing to forge a culture where intentional learning is fostered throughout everything we do and how it lies at the centre of backing our people for success.<\/p>\n
Alan commented- \u201cAs we continue to expand as a company, it\u2019s crucial for us that everyone remains connected and aware of how we can support their ambitions. This is why we created a dedicated Learning and Development Hub as a first port of call where many tools and opportunities are centralised for our people to avail of.\u201d<\/p>\n
A key step in providing opportunities for learning is understanding that in 2024 everyone learns at their own pace- \u201cAs well as ensuring access to structured opportunities for development we embrace an \u2018any time, any place, anywhere\u2019 ideology. It’s not a \u2018one size fits all\u2019 approach and we encourage individualised learning. This has included giving our people opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills, through online courses on LinkedIn Learning or availing of a Rosetta Stone licence to improve on a language, which is particularly useful as our people are based across Europe and often interact with a number of languages\u201d Alan continues.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Mercury operates a robust Education Assistance Programme, supporting employees to upskill and enhance their career through completing a diploma, honours\u2019 degree, masters\u2019 degree, and even PhD. Newly qualified apprentices can build upon their qualifications to become further qualified in new areas from Engineering, Quantity Surveying and more, which Mercury supports through a dedicated scholarship programme.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, managers at different levels can take part in two manager development programmes- the new Managing for Success Programme for junior to mid-level managers and the Leadership Development Programme for Senior Managers. Both programmes enable career progression within Mercury and ensure leaders are equipped to innovate and face challenges as the industry continues to evolve.<\/p>\n
