Mercury’s proven capabilities in healthcare construction were emphatically endorsed in their selection in the preferred bidder consortium, to construct the largest single NHS hospital build ever undertaken in Scotland. This hospital, one of the most advanced medical facilities in the world, includes a fourteen floor adult hospital with bed capacity of 1,109 single room accommodation and a five Storey children’s hospital with a 256 bed capacity. The facility will have 20 modern operating theatres and be home to major specialized services of renal medicine, transplantation, vascular surgery, neurosurgery & spinal injury treatment.

The hospital replaced the Royal Hospital for Sick Kids at York hill, the Southern General Hospital, the Western and Victoria infirmaries and the Mansion house Unit.
